Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 1st May, 2017: Siliguri was today devastated by the sudden storm during the wee hours. Though the day was a holiday marking the International Labour Day, the commercial establishment and offices were closed hence the problem faced by the people was less in comparison to the other weekdays. Reports of trees and huge branches fell into the streets and caused road blockades. The areas affected with such roadblocks were Rabindranagar, Pradhannagar, Gurung Basti, Sukantapally etc. During the storm, the electricity was cut off for safety purposes but it did not affect human life as it was restored just after the rains in the unaffected areas. There are some reports of snapping off of the Cable connections.
